Sportsmenus client Andrew Jayne earned his second Grand Prix show jumping victory of the year on November 2 in Paso Robles, California. Andrew  rode Maplewood Stable’s homebred Cartel to the best performance over an impressive field of starters in the $40,000 Fall Classic Grand Prix. He also won a spring Grand Prix at the same venue in April.

Andrew, 26, of Reno, Nevada, guided the 13-year-old gelding to perfect jumping over two rounds and the fastest time in the jump-off.

“It was a great class and great show! Thanks show manager Mandi Diefenderfer for making everything so special!” said trainer Julie Winkel, also a Sportsmenus client.

Cartel, a Rheinland Pfalz Saar by Cartouche Z, was bred and is owned by Julie and her Maplewood Stables, Inc. Andrew has spent several years bringing the horse up the levels, and they made their Grand Prix debut last year. The pair also began competing at the international level (FEI) this year. Andrew has his sights set on qualifying for the World Cup Show Jumping Finals in the future.

Andrew also placed 12th aboard the Maplewood homebred Outlier by Osilvis with a speedy jump-off but an unfortunate rail that cost them 4 faults in the tie-breaker.

Julie, below, also finished the show with an impressive victory aboard her own stallion Good To Know in the $5,000 1.20m Jumper Classic.
